Use of License Numbers instead of Social Security Numbers. A student’s
real estate license number is not confidential information. A student who is
already licensed in Idaho must be permitted to use his or her license number
instead of social security number. However, prelicense students generally will
not yet have an Idaho license, and therefore social security numbers will have
to be used for course completion lists. It is understood that a course
instructor, or other employee or agent of the provider, may properly have
access to a student’s confidential information in the collection or submission of
the required information. However, reasonable measures must be taken to
protect the confidentiality of such information. Providers may wish to execute
confidentiality agreements with their students.
